Just in time for the holidays, the Cranky Uncle game is now available on Android!
Our original plan was to release both iPhone and Android versions on December 15. Unfortunately, it took longer than expected for Google to approve the Android version (defying my expectations, I’d always heard Apple approval was much slower than Google). Of course, some people imbued this random series of events with more meaning than they should have (the game will be addressing the human tendency to detect meaningful patterns in random events in early 2021, more on this further down the email). One person even accused me of left-wing bias because the game came out on iPhone first – the logic of this argument had me scratching my head!
We’ve also just released version 1.1 of the Cranky Uncle iPhone game. This update has one major new feature – we received a handful of reports of people having trouble logging into the game. So we added an extra way to get into the game if the “magic link” didn’t work – providing a short code that people receive by email and manually enter into the app. This also enables players to enter the game if they check their email on a different device than their iPhone.
To Android users, yes, version 1.1 will be coming to Android soon too! 🙂

Problems with the game not working is usually a login issue. First suggestion: log out then log back in, that gets the game running in most cases. Second suggestion, are you receiving your login email via a different device to the Android phone? Third suggestion, hold tight as version 1.2 will soon be available on Android which offers more login options for people having problems.

Did Google Play take down Cranky Uncle? I have it on my phone, but when I recommended it to a friend, he couldn’t get it.
